DUI Driver Collides With Police Car

On Sunday February 11, 2007 at approximately 11:15 P.M. Riverside Police Officers were conducting a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation on a 1987 Toyota pick up truck in the 7100 block of Arlington Avenue. While the officers were conducting their investigation, a 1999 Ford Mustang driven by 36 year-old Jose Eulalio Navarro Solis of Riverside collided with the rear of the marked black and white police unit, causing it to collide with the 1987 Toyota pick up. The pick up truck had minor damage to the rear bumper. The police vehicle and the mustang both sustained moderate damage and were towed from the scene.

David Madison, 34 of Moreno Valley, a passenger in the pick up, was seated in the police unit at the time of the collision and was not injured. 22 year-old Sabrina White of Riverside was the driver of the Toyota truck, she was out of the vehicle at the time of the collision and was not injured. Both driver and passenger were released from the scene. Riverside Police Officer David Hammer who was reaching into the passenger side of the Toyota at the time of the collision, received minor injuries and was treated and released from Riverside Community Hospital.

Solis, who was not injured, was arrested at the scene for felony Driving Under the Influence and booked into the Riverside County Jail.
